York College awards grants for 'greater' ideas for city, community
York College has awarded grants to those who have ideas for making it "greater," including some efforts that focus on the connection between the college and the community. Last fall, the college sought proposals for the first "Great to Greater" grants, making $300,000 available over three years, according to a letter sent to the college community in February, announcing the first of the winners.
Hanover police arrest three for robbery
Hanover Borough police arrested three people March 13 after they allegedly robbed a man in the 100 block of Carlisle Street. The suspects - Megan Leppo, 29, of Hanover; Leonard Saunders, 39, of Bird-in-Hand; and James Talley Sr., 43, of York - approached the victim as he exited his vehicle around 8:45 p.m., police said in a news release.
Man arrested for engaging in sex acts with 14-year-old in Hanover
Police arrested a man March 12 after he allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a 14-year-old at a Hanover business, according to charging documents. Jose Gonzalez-Martinez, 24, of York faces felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors, as well as a related misdemeanor, according to a complaint filed with Magisterial District Justice Dwayne Dubs on March 13. The victim told police the assault happened at a business off of Eisenhower Drive around 4 p.m., and Gonzalez-Martinez corroborated that account to police, according to the affidavit.
PNC to close downtown York bank branch
Marcey Zwiebel, a PNC spokeswoman said the bank is closing its branch because its lease was not extended by the landlord. The bank wanted to remain downtown but was unable to find another location that met its requirements, Zwiebel said.

West York unanimously passes previously contentious conduct policy changes
Though the proposed policies sparked lengthy arguments at a February meeting in which one council member compared them to George Orwell's "1984," personal conduct guidelines addressing council members' social media usage and other aspects of conduct outside of meetings were unanimously passed by the council in a meeting Monday night. The council first voted for the uncontroversial part - an update of the meeting codes of conduct that involved few changes to previous policy.

York-area businessman gets prison for theft, child corruption, prostitution cases
A York-area businessman who has repeatedly clashed with the law and was on the lam for nearly a year will spend at least twice that long in prison. John Corasaniti II, who goes by "Buddy," was sentenced Tuesday to a total of two to four years in prison, plus three years of probation, according to his defense attorney, public defender Ron Jackson Jr. Corasaniti, 54, must also pay nearly $20,000 in restitution in his three theft by deception cases, prosecutors have said.
Iraqi artifacts recovered by US investigators in Connecticut
Three smuggled artifacts from Saddam Hussein's private airport and palace that were recovered by federal investigators in Connecticut are among dozens of items being returned Monday to Iraq. The door knocker, water urn and soap dish came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations when a source tipped them off that gold-plated artifacts from Iraq were on the market.

U.S. Marshals announced the arrest of Harrison Michael Rineholt, 40, wanted for violating the Pennsylvania's Megan's Law. Rineholt was convicted of sexual abuse of children in York County, Pennsylvania, on December 10, 2012, and as a result of that conviction, was required to register as a sex offender.
